I came across something the other day that I found very interesting. Our research has shown what the daily spends are for the top 100 companies online. As we were looking at this, we were amazed to find that the top two companies, both insurance companies, have a combined daily spend of over $380,000. The other industries that were big online spenders were travel, flowers, retail, automotive and financial services companies.
Total daily spends by industry:
- Retail: $789,209
- Travel: $637,025
- Insurance: $604,954
- Flowers: $293,115
- Financial Services: $226,074
- Automotive: $138,292
Rebecca Zucco, Web Analyst at WebsiteBiz, expounded further:
What stands out most in this list is the industries. Everyone will need to travel at some point in their lives. Everyone will need some kind of insurance. A lot of people buy flowers for their loved ones. Everyone shops. A majority of people own cars. Everyone has to do something with their money. These industries make sense because they are universally needed and the competition within these industries is great. It would make sense, then, that not only are these the top spenders, but keywords relating to these industries are also near the top of the list when it comes to most clicks per day.
As always, your comments are welcome.

Great list! The second half of the list sure has many surprises!Who would have thought that companies like cabinswisconsin.com (who quite honestly I had never heard of before)would be spending +50% more than major companies like countrywide.com? I must assume that the cabin selling business must be quite brisk in Wisonsin and that their SEM ROI is killer!
