Social Media adoption is abuzz amongst marketers and certainly executives. This new eMarketer social media adoption study provides insight into how executives value social media. The majority of executive recognize adoption value from social media as a way to:
Enhance relationship with customers- Build their company’s brand
- Recruit talent and
- Service the customer
Still, most executives don’t know enough about it and are unsure how to successfully implement social media. These findings illustrate that executives recognize that social media is not a direct response channel as are Search and Display, but that social media is an engagement tool to build relationships and elevate brand adoption. The same social media adoption study showed that the majority of executives are not
using social media themselves, with the most common reason being that they don’t know enough about it. With the unknowns comes opportunity to learn and embrace, but that’s an education process to adopt social media. Marketers must continue to educate and elevate the value of social media so that executives can get understand the value and have realistic expectations of measurable results.
